When “real” research is a lie

“Science is not right-wing or left-wing. But to work, it needs scientists fearlessly committed to truth over their preferred outcomes.”–Maggie Gallagher of National Review

The Heterodox Academy is concerned that science is becoming over-run with political professors who live in a liberal bubble of social correctness, afraid to report true science at the risk of not being perceived as politically correct.

It is feared that this pervasive atmosphere of expected lock-step conformity is censoring true, scientific findings that don’t line up with what the liberal community is pressuring today’s scientist to affirm.

As evidence of this, the Academy has recently referenced the popular “finding” that minority stress takes an average of 12 years of an LGBT person’s life.

However, the researchers at Social Science and Medicine, an academic journal, refuted this claim with robust, unbiased evidence to the contrary; their findings were NOT well-received, though their evidence was irrefutable.

“When nearly everyone in a field shares the same political orientation, certain ideas become orthodoxy, dissent is discouraged and errors can go unchallenged.”
