Wisconsin crowd pulls down statue of abolitionist who died fighting slavery

The stories are endless….misguided protestors who are protesting…what? Anti-slavery heroes?

“The Global News” reports : “Crowds outside the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison tore down two statues and attacked a state senator amid protests following the arrest of a Black man who shouted at restaurant customers through a megaphone while carrying a baseball bat”.

The “offensive” statue was one of none other than Hans Christian Heg, and in case you don’t know, Heg was a Colonel who was solidly against slavery,

Wikkipedia says that Heg was a Norwegian American abolitionist, journalist, anti-slavery activist, politician and soldier, best known for leading the Scandinavian 15th Wisconsin Volunteer Regiment on the Union side in the American Civil War. He died of the wounds he received at the Battle of Chickamauga

A biographer wrote  ““Slavery was abhorrent to him, and the sincerity of his views was later to be proved by the supreme sacrifice,” according to The Wisconsin magazine of history: Volume 4, number 2, December 1920.
